Excitement Arises

We are growing very excited.  Dan, the shotcrete man, was here this week and we are on his schedule for our garage to be shotcrete-d Thursday and Friday, March 1-2.

We have finished the third layer of rebar.  Dirt has been re-moved some more.  And we are working on the rebar at the parapet and front wall, tying in the retaining wall as well.  We are fixing holes in the burlap so the shotcrete won't go thru (too much).  We are investigating waterproofing possibilities. Scaffolding needs to be moved. We need to make a form at the top of the parapet to shape it (provide a stopping point for the shotcrete). And lastly, the earth tubes will be installed in the roof before that momentous date. Inspection is scheduled and pictures need to be taken and sent to the company who sent us all this steel as they want to see what we have done with it,  and give us a piece of their mind. Hopefully, it will be constructive, informative and instructive.

Garage PROGRESS

On Monday, John Sterrett and Jacob came, dug, rebarred, formed, and poured the footers for the garage retaining walls.

On Tuesday, we took delivery on cinder blocks and mortar mix.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the cinder blocks were shaped into two walls, one on either side of the garage 'face'. The walls are reinforced horizontally and vertically with rebar and filled with concrete from top to bottom.

On Friday,  Brendan, Sean, Jake and  Kunya, who made the wall, parged the wall - made the surface smooth on all sides and the top.

on to the next step(s) on our way to shotcrete!
